Apart from the firing rate and damage, are there any other differences between the mage's 3 wands? (eg. special properties, spells etc.)

The yellow wand is similar to the Elvenwand of Heretic. The blue wand is...well, the blue wand. The gray wand is a little slower, but I think every one of those little particles do a little damage along with the initial shot. The red wand has fire damage, and it fires three blasts quick enough to hit the Centaur all three times before it raises its reflective shield.

Hey Ichor it's not like you to miss the most important differences. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P --> The yellow wand, unlike all other wands (including the original Hexen blue wand) does not cut through the first target to hit additional ones behind it, reducing its efficiency even more than you'd think at first sight. The red wand causes fire damage, i.e. you can alight bushes and fir trees with it (something you can't do with any of the others).

Neither does the Elvenwand. He's played Heretic and Hexen many times, and even made a few maps for Heretic, so I figured he would know the difference between that and the blue wand. Still, I guess I should have mentioned it, heheh.

LOL when you said elvenwand I thought you meant only that it's yellow - BTW there's a big difference between the yellow wand in KMOD and Heretic's Elvenwand - the Heretic wand is programmed to misfire about 2/3 of the time if you press fire continously, whereas the yellow wand of KMOD remains true on target even in continous fire mode.

That's because the Elvenwand works like Doom's chaingun (instantaneous shots, also called hitscan), while I can see a definite projectile in the yellow wand. Other than that difference, they act basically the same with roughly the same strength.

So there's a red wand as well? Oh well, no need to waste flechettes on blowing up trees to get XP's.... (when I reach level whatever, of course)

LOL if you don't blow up the tree, you can get a lot more EXP (just hit the tree again and again with a non-combustible weapon).

For a mage, the best way is to use the blue wand, stand where the trees are in single file in front of you, and shoot so that all the trees are hit at once with a single shot. By the way, there were several occasions where I found myself surrounded by a bunch of enemies, usually Ettins and Centaurs, and I had this urge to use the Tome of Power on the Arc of Death and just wipe them all out at once (enough to hit the Backspace a couple of times)...only to realize that I was playing the wrong game, heheh.

What game was it? Hmm... you should make a bonus level like a maze or something....Full of Slaughtars and other maze like monsters...With little room to maneuver...you cant skip past them or evade EVERYTHING....You could put the spawn point in some unuse portion of the map or somewhere like a pit... GreatMultiplayer map too...

To be exact, red wand has 3 more important features: - it partially paralyzes target (3 hits one after another). No stalker can harm you, ever, nor submerge. - it's a bit harder to aim than grey wand, because you have to keep target in your crosshairs. Also it isn't very good for hit&run, because you can't take cover (wall) until burst is finished. - like other non-blue wands, it looks cheap. Their appearance is exactly the same, apart from colors. I wouldn't resist to draw different runes on different wands. But I'm not Korax crew member...

I wasn't in the team at the time the extra wands were put in, but I would guess that they were done as just colour changes for speed. It is much easier to change colour for several sprites than to make any other change. But it is somthing that could be done, but it would be pritty low of our list of things to do.

Stalkers are blocked from submerge through any of the wands after the very first shot, this is inherited from the original Hexen. As for creating new graphics for KMOD, you don't need to be a team member for that, just send them in and you'll get credit for it. I've been studying up on sapphires, since the wand crystals are sapphires, I realize there are yellow sapphires and grey(colorless) sapphires, as well as the most common blue sapphire. Why don't we call the red wand a ruby wand because back in the day, red sapphires were called rubies and are still called rubies today. Didn't want to make a new post so I bumped.
