Creativity is stifled, homogenisation is encouraged. That's just the way big business works...like with music and films etc. if you want to make original innovative works purely out of passion for w/e activity it is, the underground is the place for you.
There's no money in creative media anymore, only generic corporate dross for the sheep to lap up.
[quote="Firebrand":1q5yqkhw]Too bad that activision has that effect on companies... but what I can't understand is if they can't see how many studios have gone down to themselves, and if they do, why the hell they keep doing the same things again and again! <!-- s#-o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa_doh.gif" alt="#-o" title="d'oh!" /><!-- s#-o -->
Money is always the luring factor...you'd think game devs would see what would happen if they accepted a buyout, but nope the $$$ signs always blind them to the future and they end up like the rest.
[quote="RambOrc":1q5yqkhw]Nah it's just typical Activision shit, it's a company run by suits caring only about money and they buy up all the exceptional game studios then ruin them.
Which is quite illogical really...I mean why buy up all the game dev talent if you're not going to use it to make anything other than the usual crap that doesn't require any? Unless ofc it's the desire to control gaming as a whole...just like with film and music...y'know, human nature.
(edit: should look at dates before posting really, but there doesn't seem to be many newer threads)
