[quote="phoenixrod":1e7kknqv]You know the original hexen inventory can be used by pressing [ or ] right?
Why not make a completely new screen showing all your items, weapons, money, and you can make a weapons and armor shop where you can sell bracers, helms, mesh armors, shields, gauntlets, axes, hammers, swords, maces.
I'd opt for an inventory screen halfway between Diablo and Morrowind, where the both the size and the mass of the object account for room left over in the knapsack. In Diablo it's only size that matters, and in Morrowind it's only mass, but I think both factors are important for a more realistic inventory. Now every fantasy fan cringes at this point when I say "realistic," but what I'm writing here is only meant to be taken in theory, not practice: certainly you can't expect us to implement something this complicated, eh?
Anyway, this way, with both size and mass factoring to bag space, you can distinguish better between lightweight and heavyweight armour. You may have only one thing in your knapsack: a gold coin that weights 300 lbs, but you can't put anything else in the knapsack because you'd be overencoumbered anyway.
Come to think about it, maybe high-level mages can create an "infinite inventory" spell, where you can cram all the shit you want into your knapsack and it sits in a small pocket of empty space elsewhere in the universe for you to pick up? It's like a handheld teleporter.
[quote="phoenixrod":1e7kknqv]Only fighters can use gauntlets, axes, hammers, and swords etc.
Only clerics can use maces, staves, fire spells, and any holy objects etc. as well as some of fighter's weapons and mage weapons.
Only mages can use wands, rods, ice and lightning spells and magic stuff etc.
Well you get the point.
Maybe instead of only being able to use them, they just use them far more efficiently than the other classes would. I mean, just because I'm a musician doesn't mean I can't kick a mean football.
