Hurted skins is an idea I had, and it will work like in Quake 2: when the monster loses half of it's health, the damaged skin sprites would show, and replace the "healthy" sprites. I have made, among some others, the first series for the Ettin's hurted skin, A, B, C and D. It can walk around now, and while I'm writting this, I'm already working on the H series, which is the "taking damage" serie. By the way, I thought of some changes in it: could Janis (or somebody else) add the blood effect (that we get when we hit some monsters with the axe or quietus (without mana)), it would work,as said before, when the health is cut to half, and the effect would be activated along with the skin. It would be even cooler if the other blood effect could be added too (the one we get when we hit some monsters with the Mage's wand, and the Freeze spell mostly). One or two drops of blood, plus the other effect and the activation of the damage skin would complete the transformation from the healthy skin, to this one. What do you think? By the way, Rambork asked me to upload the images into the Korax server, but I don't have a clue of how can I do that? Can anybody please explain me?? [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

Alright, I've finished the Ettin's "hurted" skin, if we can call it that. I've changed all the sprites for the effect, and I made the wad with ALL the Ettin's frames, replacing only the ones needed. I'll upload it to the server, if I can [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] , and now I would like to ask everybody's opinion, because it will be an important change in the game, and it should be, at the very least, a good change. Just say what you think of the wounds, how it looks in the game, and if it works well. I hope some of you know how to use the wad (yes, Janis, Ichor and RambOrc, I'm talking to you [img]images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] ), because I really can't... Anyway, the effect is not yet completed. Janis (or Ichor, or Camper, I don't know..), could you add the other effects I asked in the other topic. They should be activated in the moment the skin takes place (the Ettin's health drops to half), as obvious. PS: Man, I can't logon, or something, with the FTPCute. It's getting really boring. Sory for the small progress lately, simply I was playing Return To Castle Wolfenstein. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Two new uploads. Forst it's new kmod dll with fixes for the lately reported problems. The second is new SE dll and wad with hurted ettin. And it looks cool. Keep doing this for other monsters.

Currently it changes to hurted graphics when it has less than a half of the health. I gues that's what we wanted. An extra blood spray also is not hard to add. And I think that it looks OK. <blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote

Well,as for my 3d card, it's a 3d Blaster Banshee PCI, with 16 mb, I think. The main problem isn't the power, is the HD capacity. I have only 160 mb of free space in my computer, and I don't have any game installed (only hexen). I have a small HD (1 gb), so you can see why I can't play "heavy" games. As for the skin: just as it's is already cool, but don't you think it look odd to have a healthy ettin in one moment and in the next second a badly wounded one? That's why I suggested the "blood" effect, to "hide" and add to the replacement. But if you guys think it's ok, then no problem.

It's not a problem to add this effect later. So to get things going start to do this for other monsters. [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Um, I forgot to say the content itself in the previous post, i.e. I uploaded the files in the mago_april30 subfolder of 2D graphics. Fixed the e-mail routing prob as well, so the mail now should come in at Janis if you send it.

RambOrc forgot to tell you that he DEATH.WAD is part of the GSERP.WAD, which is the wounded skin for the green serpent (the DEATH.WAD is the death animation I forgot to add to the original wad, and is just an add-on to GSERP.WAD).

Can't find it becuz UBB search screwed up again, but here's a starter: - damage skin for all monsters except Korax, the 3 order leaders, the Reivers (both type), the Stalkers, and maybe the Afrits and Wendigos (last 2 I'd simply leave until the end) - NPCs for the town (and maybe some other maps as well) - new monster subtypes, in the 1st row for the Ettin and the Centaur
